Fmcw Based Mimo Imaging Radar for Maritime Navigation

چکیده
The berthing of large ships in inclement weather with frequently poor visibility presents a challenge. To assist with this application, it may be beneficial to utilise standard radar imaging. Whilst this may be achieved using a mechanically-scanned system, reliability, cost and weight issues, coupled with the need to primarily image only a 120◦ sector on the port and starboard of the ship, make phased array radar an attractive possibility. Multiple-Input MultipleOutput (MIMO) radar, with its ability to enhance the resolution available from a given number of elements, is particularly suited to a short-range application such as this in which there is sufficient time to switch between antenna elements as an alternative to more complex implementations. This paper describes a system of this nature from its basic architecture to development and validation, including some artefacts of the particular topology employed.

A MIMO FMCW radar approach to HFSWR
In this paper we propose one possible approach how to apply the concept of multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) to monostatic Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) High-Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR) in a maritime environment. Common tasks for a HFSWR are sea-state monitoring and ship detection, where our focus is on ship detection. A limiting factor in HFSWR is the available bandwid...

In this paper, we present a novel signal processing method for video synthetic aperture radar (ViSAR) systems, which are suitable for operation in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) environments. The technique improves aspects of the system’s performance, such as the frame rate and image size of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) video. The new ViSAR system is based on a frequency-modulated continuo...
متن کاملSynthetic Aperture Radar Imaging Using a Unique Approach to Frequency-modulated Continuous-wave Radar Design
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging is an expensive endeavor. It can be difficult for universities, small business, or individuals to experiment with SAR imaging and algorithm development on a low budget. For this reason, a uniquely inexpensive solution to FrequencyModulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) radar was developed and then utilized as an ultra low cost SAR imaging system. This unique appr...

متن کاملFocusing Bistatic FMCW SAR Signal by Range Migration Algorithm Based on Fresnel Approximation
Frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technique has recently been employed by synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to decrease the radar cost and volume. However, the operation range is limited by the direct energy leakage from the transmitting channel to receiving channel due to the operation principle of FMCW technique. Bistatic configuration is an efficient way to increase the isolation betwe...
